Cost questions

Get a full bill, not a headline price.

Ask for a written total that names the visit, medicine, tests, shipping, and any ongoing fee. Mark anything the quote leaves out.

Prices and rules can change. Open ‘Check the source’ below each section to find the date for its facts.

Medicine prices depend on how you pay

The drug company publishes a price called the list price. The company’s price for people paying without insurance can be different.

With insurance, check the amount you must pay, rather than the amount the insurer pays. A government program can set a different patient payment again.

Ask which kind of price you are being shown. Ask what makes you eligible for it.

Cash figures give context, not a local quote

Drug companies offer some branded weight-loss and diabetes medicines directly to people paying without insurance. On September 26, 2026, most of those monthly prices fell in a range of about $149 to $499.

The range includes injections and tablets.

Some refills cost more when a refill deadline is missed. The price also depends on the product and strength.

A quote for a month might cover one box or one bottle, or it might cover a supply lasting 28 days. These are medicine prices, not the total bill for care.

These drug-company prices are outside insurance. The money you spend this way does not count towards the plan’s yearly cap on what you pay.

A Medicare offer has its own rules

The temporary Medicare GLP-1 Bridge lets eligible people get certain weight-management medicines for a monthly payment of $50.

It begins July 1, 2026, continues through December 31, 2027, and operates outside the normal Medicare drug benefit.

GLP-1 is a body signal involved in appetite and blood sugar; a signal of this kind is called a hormone. Medicines that copy that signal are also called GLP-1 medicines.

Ask what happens after the offer

Get the later price, payment dates, and cancellation terms in writing. Ask whether ending a membership also cancels future medicine orders.
